*Arduino is
an electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware, based on the ATMEL
processor,
and
software, which uses a language similar to C++ but with some
simplifications.
The Arduino can be
used to develop interactive objects by sensing the environment by receiving input
from a variety of sensors/switches and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, actuators and
other physical outputs.
The Arduino is used by artists, designers and hobbyists etc.
LEGO Mindstorms
RCX
Build and Programming
Robotic build, with
gears, sensors, dc motors etc as well as programming.
RoboCup’s Soccer and Search
will be used as the template for the day.
No previous knowledge
of robotics required.
...very
popular event, many schools have gone on to the RoboCup
UK Final and even the World Final.
The
2011 World Final is in Istanbul, Turkey...
LEGO Mindstorms
NXT
Programming
The school must have
their own NXT kits.
This is programming
ONLY.
Some previous
knowledge of robotics would be helpful.
... if
the school is planning to enter the RoboCup or The
First Lego League competitions, then this would make a good introduction...
...make
sure you leave plenty of time between this event and the regional finals for
the competitions...
Arrangements
I am CRB checked and
carry appropriate insurance.
They are ALL day
events.
I bring ALL “robotic”
equipment, except Lego’s NXT.
Some of the schools’
equipment may be used, depending on the activity.
About 18 youngsters
maximum.
